Dear Mets and Omar Minaya

It pains me to say this, but please don’t think that you can compete this year.  I know I know, we’re only 4.5 games out of first, but considering how middling the entire NL East is, it’s a mirage.

Don’t make any crazy trades before the deadline, and do your best to trade Aaron Heilman (who still has value, even after last night) and anyone else you can for young prospects.

I’m not saying there should be a fire sale, but let’s face it, this isn’t our year.  Let’s put ourselves in a position to bring in some good guys this winter (younger than 30 please), and build a core around Santana, Wright, Beltran and Reyes (unless that crazy Grady Sizemore and C.C. Sabathia for Jose deal can happen).

I love you guys - but if you trade any more prospects for an over the hill 5th starter, I might honestly go crazy.
